Immigration and a Jesuit Priest in El Paso: Father Rafael Garcia
Father Rafael Garcia fled from Fidel Castro's Cuba with his family when he was just nine years old and settled in Miami. He was pursuing a career in architecture and feeling fulfilled. However, when a major architecture project was postponed, Fr. Garcia unexpectedly had the time to take a long-desired pilgrimage to the Holy Land. While there, he felt a call to the priesthood that marked his life. Father Garcia now serves at the Sacred Heart Church in Segundo Barrio in El Paso, just a stone's throw from the border with Mexico. Listen in as this priest who has found himself in the middle of the immigration conversation shares his perspective on some of our nation's most pressing issues.
